New Lawton show opens Thursday: Mail/stamp artist, dark humor

The Lawton Gallery in Theatre Hall will kick off its next exhibition Thursday (March 6), hosting an opening reception (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.) for the month-long run of “The Heart is Mostly Made of Water: An exhibition of works by John Rininger.” Lawton Gallery curator Stephen Perkins will offer an introduction to the exhibition at 5 p.m. Artist Rininger, who died in 2006 at the age of 45, was a mail and stamp artist with a dark sense of humor who worked in several genres. The exhibit bearing his name will be on display through Thursday, April 3, though the gallery will be closed March 17-22 for spring break. For more about the exhibit, check out our news release.
