Green Bay Director of Athletics Charles Guthrie has announced the hiring of Abbey Sutherland as the new head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix volleyball program. Sutherland comes to the Phoenix after spending the previous five seasons at nearby UW-Stevens Point, where she led the Pointers to a 146-36 record during her successful tenure including two WIAC regular season championships, two WIAC tournament championships and back-to-back runs to the NCAA Tournament Final Four. Sutherland replaces Sean Burdette who accepted the head coaching position at the University of Memphis in January. Green Bay has finished runner-up in the Horizon League Championship in each of the last two seasons, and returns the HL Freshman of the Year in Taylor Wolf, Honorable Mention setter Maddie Yoss and All-Freshman Team member Roberta Todd in 2018. Green Bay finished 17-16 and advanced to the NIVC Quarterfinals in 2017.
