Sessions offer info on using hallway defibrillators
As part of the campus Wellness Committee’s popular Lunch and Learn series, the program “AED: Be a Lifesaver” will be offered at two different times next week: at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18) and 12:10 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 20), both times in the Alumni Rooms on the main level of the University Union. You’ve probably noticed the 30 or so AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) located at various locations across campus. In case of medical emergency, the devices can automatically analyze the heart’s electrical rhythm for abnormalities and, if needed, administer a shock, called defibrillation, to help a person survive sudden cardiac arrest. The session promises information about proper use of an AED in an emergency situation.
