You’ve heard of the MOOC; check out our LOOC

Recently popularized Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have made higher education news in the past year or so, eschewing the traditional classroom format and allowing unlimited numbers of students to enroll. UW-Green Bay is exploring how the “OOC” phenomenon might work here, offering a Local Open Online Course (LOOC) in app and game development beginning March 5. Taught by UW-Green Bay Computer Science faculty members Ben Geisler and Peter Breznay, “Beginning App & 2D Game Development” is open to any student with at least high school-level algebra proficiency. The online, no-cost, course focuses on entry-level app and game development, and is taught from a beginner’s perspective. Individuals who earn a passing grade can be waived past UW-Green Bay’s Computer Science 201, a three-credit course that is the first in the University’s Computer Science curriculum. The LOOC can accept up to 250 students. Read more.
