On Thursday, Feb. 11 2021, you can be one of the first to preview the Art Preserve, the new home of the John Michael Arts Center’s world-renowned collection of artist-built environments. The Art Preserve’s grand opening won’t be until June, but the Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement has coordinated an early virtual tour.
The Art Preserve offers a new kind of museum experience, allowing visitors to see thousands of works previously kept in closed storage. We’ll explore how artists from Wisconsin and beyond transformed their spaces into densely-packed creative environments filled with sculptures, paintings, signs, collections, and more. We’ll also see responses to those environments from contemporary artists who’ve been inspired by the collection.
There is a nominal fee, and a link will be sent via email a few days prior to the event.
