UW-Green Bay a partner in community’s Jan. 18 MLK event

UW-Green Bay once again is a major sponsor for the 19th annual Community Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, taking place from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 18 in the Student Center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. This annual event honoring King’s life and legacy features inspiring remarks from community and educational leaders, multicultural music and dance performances, poster/essay contest awards for grades K-12, a rendition of King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech and more. A free lunch follows the event, which is free and open to the public.

Our own Chancellor Tom Harden again will be part of this year’s event, offering brief remarks before handing out contest awards. Numerous faculty and staff members are part of the MLK event planning committee, as well. They are Tohoro (Francis) Akakpo, Social Work; Gaurav Bansal, Business Administration; James Coates, Education; Juliet Cole, Institute for Learning Partnership; Kelly McBride Moore, University Communication; Jolanda Sallmann, Social Work; and Mussie Teclezion, Business Administration.
