Music lecturer to headline next 360° Thursdays event

UW-Green Bay Music will present the year’s second 360° Thursdays lecture-concert event Oct. 17, welcoming its newest member to speak and perform.

Abigail Mace, a specialist in historical interpretation, will present “From Venice to Weimar: Italian Inspiration in the Keyboard Toccatas,” beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive. Her performance on piano and harpsichord will include works from Girolamo Frescobaldi, Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Sebastian Bach, among others.

Mace holds a doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin, and has performance and research experience across the United States and abroad. She has recently performed in Texas, Colorado, New York, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy. Mace completed studies in early music at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague on a Fulbright Fellowship and has performed with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Jeanne Lamon.

The 360° Thursdays event is the second of eight for the 2013-14 academic year, and marks the return of the series after a successful inaugural run in 2012-13. A component of UW-Green Bay’s 360° of Learning brand, the concert-lecture event helps students, faculty, staff and community members connect with music in more meaningful ways. Performances feature scintillating and provocative pre-concert discussions by a composer, performer or arranger. Attendees will consider a single aspect of music through multiple perspectives.

The 360° Thursdays series features a diversity of performance styles designed to broaden attendees’ horizons and deepen their understanding of music. Each performance takes place at 6:30 p.m. in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive. Concerts are free but donations are appreciated.

UW-Green Bay is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. More information about 360° Thursdays is available at www.uwgb.edu/music/360-thursdays.asp. More information about UW-Green Bay Music is available at www.uwgb.edu/music/.
