UW-Green Bay in top 30 for Campus Pride’s 2018 ‘Best of the Best’ list

GREEN BAY – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has been selected for Campus Pride’s “Best of the Best” list again, this year. In order to be included in the “Best of the Best” listing, an institution had to score the highest percentages in the LGBTQ-friendly benchmarks for policies, programs and practices.

Campus Pride is a national educational organization for LGBTQ and ally college students and campus groups. The Campus Pride Index, which currently rates 330+ campuses, is the premier national benchmarking tool which self-assesses LGBTQ-friendly policies, programs and practices. The tool is free of charge and can be found online at CampusPrideIndex.org.

The mission of the Pride Center at UW-Green Bay is to identify and respond to the concerns and needs of LGBTQ students, faculty, staff, and their allies; to provide high-quality support services that contribute to the academic and personal growth of LGBTQ students, faculty, staff and allies; and to offer a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for LGBTQ people and their allies.

The Pride Center is located in Room 153 in UW-Green Bay’s University Union, and its hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Contact the Pride Center at pridecenter@uwgb.edu or by phone at 920-465-2167. The Director of the Pride Center is Stacie Christian. Ph. D. The Pride Center at UW-Green Bay also offers LGBTQ resources as well as organizations and social groups on-campus.

UW-Green Bay also offers Safe and Inclusive Living (SAIL), which is a campus housing alternative in which two or more students mutually agree to share a university apartment composed of individual bedrooms regardless of the occupant’s sex, gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation. Through SAIL, UW-Green Bay ensures that all on-campus residents can feel safe and welcome in their residential community. Learn more about SAIL.
