UW System Regents to meet June 2 regarding new UW-Green Bay chancellor

The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2 to consider the appointment of a new chancellor for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The telephone conference meeting will convene in open session and move into closed session as permitted by section 19.85(1)(c) and (1)(e) of the Wisconsin state statutes. The UW System will make the initial announcement regarding a new chancellor after that meeting has concluded.

UW-Green Bay will work with the new chancellor to coordinate media availability Monday, and will keep news media apprised of any plans. The selected individual will be UW-Green Bay’s sixth leader, replacing Chancellor Tom Harden, who announced in December he will step down prior to the 2014-15 academic year.

A UW-Green Bay Search and Screen Committee began its work in January, working with Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates to conduct a nationwide search and recommend a list of semi-finalists to UW System President Ray Cross and a special Board of Regents Committee, chaired by Regent Tim Higgins of Appleton. Cross and the committee also approved a list of five finalists who visited campus in early May for a series of interviews and activities with campus and community members, including a public forum. Cross and the special Regent committee will recommend one of those finalists to the full board, which must approve the appointment. The UW-Green Bay Search and Screen Committee consists of 12 UW-Green Bay faculty members, two academic staff members, two classified staff members, two students, two administrators and three community representatives.
