Institute for Women’s Leadership Announces June Events

Green Bay, Wis.—UW-Green Bay’s Institute for Women’s Leadership is focused on creating a community of women and allies who share knowledge and stand together to reduce barriers for women rising to positions of leadership at every stage in their career.

To aid its mission, every month the Institute plans and hosts a monthly series of events, available to members for free and to the general public for a small fee:

  • Rising Together: Caffeinated Conversations—a one-hour morning session focused on networking and sharing knowledge around a timely topic. June’s topic will be “Don’t Find a Job, Find a Mission,” inspired by Celeste Headlee’s TedTalk of the same name. The session will take place on Wednesday, June 16, 8 to 9 a.m. More details available online.
  • Sharing Knowledge Workshops—The Institute business members share their expertise in scheduled lunchtime sessions around leadership, business and entrepreneurial topics. June’s workshop will take place on Tuesday, June 22, 12-1 p.m. and will share guidance from Kristina DeWitt, VP-Mortgage and Consumer Lending, Investor’s Community Bank in a session called “Home Loans and the Self-Employed Borrower.” More details available online.
  • Women Rising: Stories from Experience—a one-hour lunchtime session to hear from a female leader in Wisconsin about her leadership journey, facilitated by lead community partner Bridget O’Connor, O’Connor Connective. June’s “story from experience” will take place on Wednesday, June 23, Noon to 1 p.m., featuring Kim Bassett, President and Chief Executive Officer for Bassett Mechanical, a third-generation family business providing design, engineering, fabrication, installation and preventative maintenance solutions to customers throughout the United States.
