UW-Green Bay Chorale, Concert Choir to perform April 30

The UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in the Cofrin Family (main) Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

This 32nd event of the 2013-14 season will feature music from a wide variety of composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, James Mulholland, Stephen Chatman, Giuseppe Pitoni and more. Associate Prof. Randall Meder conducts both the Chorale and the Concert Choir.

The UW-Green Bay Concert Choir will take the stage first, performing “Cantate Domino” by Giuseppe Pitoni; “Washington” by William Billings; “Lobet den Herren” by Michael Praetorius; “Highland Mary” by James Mulholland; “Dirait-on” by Morten Lauridsen; and “I’se the B’y,” a Newfoundland folksong.

Following a brief intermission, the Chorale will perform, beginning with Thomas Weelkes’ “Hark, All Ye Lovely Saints” and Claude Le Jeune’s “Un Gentil Amoureux.” The group also will perform “Amor Vittorioso” by Giovanni Gastoldi; “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” by Johann Sebastian Bach; “The Last Words of David” by Randall Thompson; and “Due North” by Stephen Chatman. The concert will conclude with the combined choirs performing “Gamelan,” composed by R. Murray Schafer and arranged by UW-Green Bay Prof. Cheryl Grosso.
