SBDC offers three two-day professional development workshops

The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is offering three two-day professional development workshops, part of its ongoing Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program. Workshops meet from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on the scheduled dates and will be held at the Advance Business & Manufacturing Center, 2701 Larsen Road, Green Bay.

“Lead with Integrity” will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, April 14-15. This workshop will focus on creating leaders from within an organization for more positive results. Participants will focus on the true gifts of inspirational and conscientious leaders. They will determine how to stay true to their mission in order to positively impact employee performance and develop strategies for planning with a purpose. Instructor: Stacy Shapiro, founder and owner of Shapiro Strategies.

“Developing High Performance Teams” will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12-13. Participants will learn how to create, manage and sustain highly effective teams. They will learn how to foster an environment in which creativity, trust and productivity flourish. This workshop will help participants understand team development, making team decisions, establishing team guidelines, and sustaining team effectiveness. Instructor: Eric Coryell, founder and president, Core Connections.

“Successful Negotiation Skills” will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9-10. Workshop participants will learn how to master the negotiation process. They will discover ways to create a climate for favorable results, while recognizing their own hot buttons, overcoming common obstacles to an agreement. Individuals will practice how to detach when deeply involved in a situation, and to reach satisfying agreements for both parties while improving relationships through amicable negotiations. Instructor: Cheryl Stinski, mediator, trainer, coach and author.

Designed for managers who are looking to build leadership skills and advance their businesses, the Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program and its component courses provide practical and interactive content that attendees can immediately integrate into their workplace leadership. The flexible program is designed for individuals who are just starting out on their leadership path, as well as more seasoned leaders who wish to improve upon specific skills.

Participants who wish to earn a Supervisory Leadership Certificate will be required to attend the two Core programs, Supervisory Leadership I and Supervisory Leadership II, as well as their choice of several elective programs within three years. However, individuals may take courses whether or not they intend to pursue the certificate. Cost for the two-day workshops is $425 per person or $375 per person in a group of three or more attending the same workshop from the same organization.
