Adult Degree Program to host info, advising sessions at Gogebic Community College

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Adult Degree Program is enhancing its partnership reach with a series of March events at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Mich.

A student presentation, public presentation and adviser appointment sessions will be held on March 3, 4 and 5, introducing the Gogebic community to the guaranteed-transfer opportunities available through UW-Green Bay’s Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) degree program. Two UW-Green Bay advisers will make the trip, marking the first time such a series of events has been held outside of Wisconsin.

“The purpose of these sessions is to let Gogebic Community College students and alumni, as well as faculty and staff, know about the opportunities to transfer applied associate degrees to UW-Green Bay, in pursuit of a BAS degree,” said Adult Degree Program Director Christina Trombley. “This opportunity will allow students to transfer in 60 credits, start at UW-Green Bay as a junior and complete their bachelor’s degree completely online.”

The online completion route presents a great opportunity for Gogebic’s students, many of whom are place-bound, said Jeanne Graham, Dean of Students at the college.

“The option that allows students to complete their bachelor’s degree online, from home, is very beneficial for students from our area,” Graham said. “We welcome UW-Green Bay on our campus, to talk with our students and the public as a whole. We are very excited about this opportunity.”

The UW-Green Bay events at Gogebic CC are as follows:

• Student informational presentation: 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, Solin Business Center, Room B22

• Public informational presentation: 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, Solin Business Center, Room B22

• Advisers available for student appointments: Wednesday, March 5, Technical Building, Room T116. Students can make an appointment to meet with an adviser by calling Justin Maki at (715) 803-1410 or by e-mailing him at adultdegrees@uwgb.edu.

Once the March visits conclude, UW-Green Bay’s academic advisers and recruiters will continue to be in close contact with Gogebic’s students, faculty and staff, answering questions and providing resources for those with an interest in the program.
