Honor for UW-Green Bay soccer standout Desi McCullagh

We shared news earlier this fall of the passing of UW-Green Bay’s first-ever scholarship athlete, soccer standout Desmond (Desi) McCullagh, Class of ’71. More recently, we saw an article from Streator (Ill.) that announces his name will live on with an organization he founded many years ago. McCullagh was honored by Streator Youth Soccer with a plaque at that community’s soccer fields reading “In Memory of Desi McCullagh. Through his vision and dedication, Streator Youth Soccer Association was created in 1982.” McCullagh was also coach of the first Streator Township High School soccer team.
