That’s a lot of air: Studio Arts gets new air-handling unit

When it is complete, the new air-handling unit lifted by crane on top of UW-Green Bay’s Studio Arts building will blow 5,900 cubic feet per minute, heat up to 221,000 btu’s and cool up to 177,000 btu’s. The unit itself weighs more than 5,200 pounds, says UWGB facilities Planner Jeff Schulz. Miron Construction is the general contractor and crane provider, Hurckman Mechanical is the HVAC subcontractor and is installing the unit. The entire project entails “gutting” the band and vocal labs and installing new acoustics, lighting and interior finishes, while providing a new sound recording lab on the second floor.
