More than 100 students here for Robotics/STEM, Video Game Programming and Rock Academy

This final week of July brings nearly 100 campers to UW-Green Bay, while marking the end of residential camps. The is the second offering of Robotics and STEM camp, which divides campers into beginner and advanced divisions and instruction. On the final day of camp, the campers will compete on a large-scale Lego playing field of challenges. Each division will compete among themselves, with the winners of each division playing for a final overall camp winner. Each team will be provided a computer and a Lego Mindstorm NXT kit. Teams will be given missions (challenges) to complete, requiring them to build a robot and develop programming to allow the robot to “solve” the real world challenges. To further connect this camp to real life practices, campers will participate in a field trip to a business (KI) which uses robots in its business practice. Also happening this week is our Level 2 Video Game Programming Camp. Campers learn about the Unreal Game Engine 4, a gaming industry standard, as they will create their own immersive 3D games. Lastly, this week “rocks” with Rock Academy — offered to inspire the full band experience. Campers work directly with top performers, music educators and Grammy-nominated artists. They develop a more in-depth understanding of what it takes to be a performer, songwriter and improviser. In addition to putting together a rock concert at the end of the week, each student will work with faculty to write and arrange two to three songs to perform at the final concert. The week ends with a free public concert at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 in the University Theatre, Theatre Hall. There wll be a faculty concert on Wednesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. in University Theatre.
