Campus community invited to volunteer for Back to School Store hosted by UW-Green Bay

Since 1993, the Service League of Green Bay has hosted an annual Back to School Store. This year, it will be held on the UW-Green Bay campus, Wednesday, August 8. About 1,500 Brown County students in grades K-5 are able to shop for a complete brand-new, first-day-of-school outfit, plus a backpack with school supplies and a storybook. The students also receive dental and vision screenings on-site. An additional 1,500 backpacks with new school supplies are provided for students grades six through eight.

This event is the primary annual project for the Service League and it takes approximately 800 volunteers to make it happen. Members of the campus community are encouraged to volunteer. Help set up or volunteer as a “personal shopper.” See shifts and opportunities. Please discuss with your supervisor to ensure appropriate needs for each office are being met during volunteer times. The event runs 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In addition, you can volunteer during set-up dates Sunday through Tuesday before the Back to School Store and/or donate school supplies for this event. Donations can be dropped off at the Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs Suite in University Union 112. If you have any questions, please direct them to Mai J. Lo Lee at 920-465-2522 or lom@uwgb.edu.
