Encountering Your Ecological Self: A Reflection for Earth Week

Celebrate Earth Week by getting in touch with your “ecological self” — the self as it exists in connection with the natural world. On Sunday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at the Mauthe Center, Associate Prof. David Voelker (Humanities and History) leads Green Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, demonstrating the use of guided meditation to help explore the ecological self. Together, participants will consider what happens when this connection is lost, and think about how it might be cultivated. The concept of the ecological self was developed by Deep Ecology philosopher Arne Naess and has been popularized by Joanna Macy and others.
