UW-Green Bay’s ‘Play Nice!’ set receives ‘distinguished’ recognition

Play Nice! Eat the OreoUniversity of Wisconsin-Green Bay Theatre and Dance Chair Jeff Entwistle received national recognition by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KC ACTF) for the scene design of UW-Green Bay’s “Play Nice!” production. UW-Green Bay learned of the recognition, recently.

“It was a nice surprise,” Entwistle said. The national selection team, which sees all eight festivals around the country, recognized only four scene designs. Two received “Outstanding Scene Design” recognition and two, including Play Nice, received “Distinguished Scene Design” recognition.

The judges saw “Play Nice!” at the KC ACTF Region III, Jan. 12, 2017, where the UW-Green Bay production team brought home the coveted “Golden Handtruck Award.” The award recognizes the best technical work and most professionalism in getting production materials — set, lighting, sound system, costumes and props — from the truck to the stage ready in four hours for an audience and only one hour to get everything down and back into the truck.
