Health officials are seeing an increase in respiratory viruses on the UW-Green Bay campuses ranging from the common cold to influenza. Please remember to follow the CDC’s everyday precautions to prevent the spread of germs: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/prevention.htm. The viruses are also highly prevalent in the community and state. Last Friday’s (Feb. 14, 2020) Wisconsin Respiratory Report provides additional details. The Wisconsin Department of Health report this morning stated the risk of contracting the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) remains low in Wisconsin. COVID-19 symptoms are similar to those of influenza (e.g., fever, cough, or sore throat), and the outbreak is occurring during a time of year when respiratory illnesses from influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, and other respiratory viruses are highly prevalent.
