Harden tells TV-2 he’s not seeking shakeup; community relations will be vital

WBAY-TV 2 sports director Chris Roth came to campus Wednesday to interview Chancellor Tom Harden about the announcement that Phoenix Athletics Director Ken Bothof would be resigning to accept a similar position with Northern Kentucky University. In the first of two segments that aired on the evening news, Harden noted that a top priority for Bothof’s replacement will certainly be fundraising, par for the course at any Division I program, and maintaining strong community relations. In the second segment, the Chancellor dismissed speculation that program shakeups and coaching changes can occur with changes in athletics administration. Harden indicated he would approach the search with an eye for candidates who recognize the Phoenix program’s existing strengths and potential, and want to build on that success.
