Kraft column: The time is now to act on climate change

Prof. Emeritus Michael Kraft, Public and Environmental Affairs, argues for swift action to address the issue of climate change in his latest column. Writing about the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, as well as other studies, Kraft says that “Any reasonable person reviewing these and other studies would conclude that it is very much in our own economic and national security interest to take action now; not just at some indefinite future time. Yet elected officials show little enthusiasm for action, many Republicans continue to deny the reality of climate change, and the fossil fuel industry stoutly resists any change.” Kraft also outlines some of the reasons for this reluctance to act and what might be done.
