In the news: Koltz talks sequestration, possible impacts for student veterans

Veteran Services Adviser Elaina Koltz talked about the sequestration cuts and their possible impact on veterans benefits during an interview last week with WFRV, Channel 5’s Terry Kovarik. Tuition assistance for this semester hasn’t been affected by the cuts, Koltz said, but students could face changes beginning this summer. “We may have some students that will not have the funding that they expected to have, especially in summer, starting so quickly,” she said. If a deal isn’t reached, student veterans may have to reduce their credit loads — but reservists may have other financial aids available. “Most of them (active duty reservists) do have chapter benefits,” Koltz said. “So they have those as well as tuition assistance.” See interview.
