Half-day summer program by Education Outreach and Jennifer Young

UW-Green Bay Education Outreach is offering a half-day program on July 12, 2018 titled “Discipline Run Amok: How Prison-Like Schools, Puritanical Dress Codes and Zero Tolerance Policies are Ruining High School and What We Can Do About It.” UW-Green Bay Assistant Prof. Jennifer Young (Humanities) will facilitate this session. Young is a former high school teacher who left K-12 teaching to pursue a research path intended to address the very problems that drove her away. Her book, published in 2017, interrogates the increasingly prison-like environments created in high schools and asks how a more productive environment can be created.
