UW-Green Bay to launch new ‘Learning Community’ initiative

Already distributed campuswide but repeated here for the permanent archive: Two different “Learning Community” groups of up to 35 students will tackle a shared interest — either social justice or sustainability — via an initiative making its debut later this year. The program is open to students becoming sophomores in fall 2013. Members of each learning community will take a common set of three linked courses that all relate in some way to their theme. For an additional credit, students will engage together and with their learning community instructors in activities such as campus programs or activities, field trips, service learning projects and even out-of-class coffee shop discussions. Students will pursue team projects that apply their learning experiences to address the social issue of their community in some way. Details are listed at http://www.uwgb.edu/lc/. If you have additional questions, please contact Prof. Denise Bartell, Dean of Students Brenda Amenson-Hill or Residence Life Director Glenn Gray.
