UW-Green Bay offers new course for early childhood educators

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is offering a new course designed to help students and early childhood educators find new ways to help young students learn.

The course, “Early Literacy and Learning for our Youngest Students” starts Saturday, Oct. 9. Participants have a choice of enrolling for one graduate credit, one undergraduate credit or taking part in the non-credit option.

Participants include a mix of pre-service education students and practicing educators in early childhood classrooms, such as four-year-old kindergarten, Head Start and kindergarten.

The course will be led by Sarah Lindh, who teaches four-year-old kindergarten in the Silver Lake-Salem School District. Lindh received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at UW-Green Bay and her master’s degree in educational leadership at Cardinal Stritch University.

Participants in the course will gain an understanding of the importance of developmentally appropriate learning, as well as learning appropriate literacy and learning activities for our youngest learners.
