2012-2013 Stage Doors Education Series Announced

Weidner Center, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay(Green Bay, WI) – The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts is proud to announce the 2012-2013 Stage Doors Education Series, providing learning opportunities for students throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.

The 2012-2013 season kicks off in October 2012 and extends through April 2013, featuring 11 titles and a total of 21 performances. Programs are selected to complement current classroom curriculum with creative and imaginative learning, critical thinking opportunities and live performance experiences. Performance-specific study guides are provided to help educators integrate show topics into classroom activities.

Expanded this year is an ongoing educational partnership with Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Allouez. Two events in the series, We the People and The Civil War, will offer opportunities for students to experience a full day of learning activities at both the Weidner Center and Heritage Hill.

The release of the Stage Doors Education Series schedule serves as an exciting prelude to the May 22 announcement of the new 2012-13 Weidner Center Performing Arts Season lineup. This dynamic season schedule is an integral part of the University’s plan to reinvigorate its signature performing arts venue, and will feature a wide variety of offerings, including Broadway productions. Weidner Center friends and stakeholders, along with local news media, will be invited to a special evening event announcing the season on the Weidner main stage.

The following is the full 2012-2013 Weidner Center Stage Doors Education Series schedule. All shows are at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with the exception of A Guided Tour of The Taming of the Shrew, which has one performance at 12:30 p.m.

Since its inception, Stage Doors Education Series at the Weidner Center has served more than 95,000 students, grades Pre-K through 12, from 22 counties in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The annual Stage Doors Education Series is program of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and is made possible by the generous support of the George F. Kress Family Foundation, with additional support provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board.

How To Make Reservations for the 2012-2013 Series:
All information about the 2012-2013 Stage Doors Education Series at the Weidner Center can be found online at www.WeidnerCenter.com. Reservations from schools and home school families are being accepted now via mail, fax or online. Series brochures will be mailed to educators in September. All tickets are $7.
