Paul Kendle to receive Chancellor’s Award at UW-Green Bay

Paul Kendle of Green Bay has been selected the May 2010 recipient of the Chancellor’s Award at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Kendle will be presented the award, the University’s highest community honor, as part of spring 2010 commencement at the Kress Events Center starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15. The honor recognizes his sustained commitment to advancing this university and the community it serves.

A prominent local executive in the financial services industry, Kendle is market president for Wells Fargo Bank’s 19 locations in Northeast Wisconsin. He has served in leadership capacities for Wells Fargo or its precursors for more than two decades.

Kendle’s devotion to promoting regional economic growth and a better quality of life is revealed in his extensive record of volunteer service on behalf of organizations and activities that serve the community.

He is a past chairman of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, a former president of the Green Bay Rotary Club and countywide campaign chair for the United Way. He serves currently on the boards of Options for Independent Living and the Brown County United Way’s Community Partnership for Children, and as a member of the Brown County Housing Authority. He is active in support of N.E.W. Curative Rehabilitation.

At UW-Green Bay, Kendle has been a strong advocate for public higher education, an adviser to institutional administration, and a leader in generating additional scholarship dollars for UW-Green Bay students.

He joined the board of directors of the UW-Green Bay Founders Association — the private philanthropic support organization — in the mid-1990s, and served as president of the Board from 1997 to 2000. He and his wife, Colleen, have been longtime supporters of the Founders Association, the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts and the Phoenix Fund, and they contributed to the institution’s recently completed capital campaign, The Campaign for UW-Green Bay.

Kendle holds a bachelor’s in business management from Northwest Missouri State University and has completed additional training at the Graduate School of Banking at UW-Madison. He and Colleen are the parents of two adult children, Carrie (and Corby) Miller of Waunakee and Adam (and Katie) Kendle of La Crosse.
