Close-ups: Award-winning student art

Juried Student Art ExhibitionThe work of 29 student artists continues to be featured at the Lawton Gallery through Dec. 8 as part of the 39th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. Artists submitted 107 works for the show, and 29 artists had a total of 46 works accepted. David Damkoehler, Professor Emeritus of Arts and Visual Design, was the juror for the show. Eighteen awards were given for a total of $2,420.

Those awards are listed below. Way below — at the bottom of this column, below the photo gallery of the exhibit — you’ll find a second photo gallery, of art of a different kind. (Prof. Mindy Wittock’s Art 106 Design Methods class was assigned to construct chairs, capable of holding a human, using only cardboard and glue.)
