Mnozil Brass ‘master’ leads session with UW-Green Bay musicians

Mnozil Brass Master Class

Not only were members of Mnozil Brass a hit with the  Weidner Center audience April 12 when in Green Bay for a national tour, but UWGB music students were enthralled, as well, when ensemble member Roman Rindberger (trumpet) presented a master class. UWGB faculty Kevin Collins and Adam Gaines, UWGB music students, and a few high school students, spent more than an hour with the international performer.

Mnozil Brass received four-star critical acclaim for its Weidner performance. It has established itself as one of the world’s premier brass ensembles with more than 130 performances each year and it has millions of YouTube views. The group is said to seamlessly blend original compositions with classical favorites, jazz standards, and popular hits. And they are funny.

The Austrian native Rindberger was born into a musical family and played folk music in his youth. His profile says he “loves the classic-technical passages, treating them with the precision of a Swiss clock-maker.”
