Photos: Sold-out TEDxUW-Green Bay looks to return in 2019

On Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, UW-Green Bay held its very first TEDx event. TEDxUW-Green Bay was a collaboration between the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Weidner Center. Co-created and organized by Associate Prof. Aaron Weinschenk (Political Science), Ben J. & Joyce Rosenberg Prof. Regan Gurung (Psychology, Human Development) and the Weidner Center’s Executive and Artistic Director, Kelli Strickland, the event brought community and campus together for an evening of learning and fun.

The event featured eight speakers: Ben J. & Joyce Rosenberg Prof. Illene Noppe Cupit (Human Development), Kelly Ellis ’06 (Business Administration), Fred Johnson, Lorenzo Lones ’16 (Psychology), Dr. Ashok Rai, Anne Schauer-Gimenez, Dan Terrio ’14 (Masters in Applied Leadership) and Assistant Prof. Jennie Young (English). See the speaker biographies. The speakers were coached by senior lecturer Danielle Bina (Communication) and lecturer Shauna Froelich (Communication). Presentation topics ranged from school security to the American healthcare system, to the importance of moxie.

“I thought the event was fantastic, and it serves to build the type of social currency that I truly believe in,” says Dean Chuck Rybak (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences).

Event organizers say they hope to make TEDx UW-Green Bay an annual event.
