Phuture Phoenix Day
The Phuture Phoenix program has benefited more than 5,000 fifth-graders since its inception in 2003, but it also provides invaluable experience to hundreds of UW-Green Bay undergraduates who spend the entire day with the fifth-graders, and follow-up as mentors in their schools. This year 240 UW-Green Bay students — the majority of them future teachers — served as volunteers for the two-day event and the responsibility that follows in 13 Green Bay elementary schools and nine other school districts. Nearly 100 UW-Green Bay faculty and staff, and a number of community advocates, also devoted much of their time to the annual two-day event. Photo interns Matt Robinson and Jenna Neumann, as well as campus photograper Eric Miller, were on the scene October 14 — at the Kress Center and the Weidner Center, in labs and studios, at the leaf piles and in the autograph lines.
