Champions Again! Swimmers and Divers claim sixth straight championship
For the sixth consecutive season the UW-Green Bay women’s swimming and diving team is the Horizon League champion, having captured the 2010 conference crown Feb. 27 in Chicago.
Phoenix senior Lauren McGraw was named Women’s Diver of the Meet (an award she also won in 2008), while coaches Tom Stover (Men’s and Women’s Diving Coach of the Year), and Jim Merner (Horizon League Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year) also earned honors. It was Merner’s tenth Coach-of-the-Year title. (Read feature story on Merner.)
Between the Green Bay men’s and women’s teams, a total of 11 school records were broken over the four days in Chicago. The men finished fifth at the meet.
A fun video is posted on the Athletics website (click here), showing self-described “crazy” parents and family members dressing up, hollering up a storm and rooting for the Phoenix swim/dive teams at the conference meet this week in Chicago.
