Phoenix women wait for word Monday night
Top-seeded Green Bay (27-4) had its record 27-game homecourt winning streak snapped by fourth seeded Cleveland State Friday night in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. The Vikings advanced to face Butler at noon Sunday (March 14) in the championship game at the Kress Center on campus. The NCAA Tournament selection show, at 6 p.m. Monday on ESPN, will reveal the brackets for the women’s tourney. The Phoenix, highly ranked in the voter polls all year but never quite that high in the all-important computer rankings, have an outside chance at an at-large bid. If not, they’re an automatic entry in the Women’s NIT based on their regular-season Horizon title. Check for the latest at the Athletics site.
