UW-Green Bay alumni named 2021 Golden Apple Award recipients

The Golden Apple Award recipients announced recently include four UW-Green Bay alumni.

Brown County’s education community came together recently to honor its outstanding performers, bestowing Golden Apple awards on a total of 12 teachers—who continue to excel despite the unique challenges imposed on them by the coronavirus pandemic.

The following UW-Green Bay alumni were awarded:

  • Jessica Bernard, Nicolet Elementary School, Graduated in 2007 with B.S., Major: Elementary Education.
  • April Neuville, Father Allouez Catholic School, Graduated in 2004 with a B.A., Major: Elementary Education.
  • Lindsey Hilgemann, Ashwaubenon High School Literacy Team, Graduated in 2010 with a B.A., Major: English, Minor: Secondary Education.
  • Tracy Wiedeman, Pulaski Community School District Full Online Learning Second Grade Team, Graduated in 2000 with a B.S., Major: Elementary Education.

STEAM Engine speaker series moves to the Weidner Center

STEAM Engine is a speaker series showcasing presentations on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. The series moves to the Weidner Center for Spring 2021. Previously, the series was held at Neville Public Museum. This Event is streaming Live from the Weidner Center Youtube Channel on March 11, 2021, at 7 p.m.

NEW Zoo & Adventure Park Spring Break Zoo Day Camp registration now open

Here’s an idea if you have kids at home for Spring Break— Spring Break Zoo Camp! The NEW Zoo is offering safe and socially-distanced day camps during each of the two weeks of local public school scheduled spring breaks. Every animal species has its own unique life cycle, with its own special stages of development. The camp explores how the spring season brings many changes for critters around the world—from bugs to birds, they’ll take a close-up look at the interesting ways animals grow and change. The camp runs on March 16 and 17, 30 and 31. The camp is designed for first through fourth-grade students.

Summit focused on tourism revival

The Tourism Summit is tailored for any business or front-line worker associated with tourism in Wisconsin, including restaurants, hotels, golf courses, other recreation and attractions, and communities. The Tourism Summit is hosted by UW-Green Bay’s Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement.

New COVID vaccine clinic opens at UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus | NBC26

“This pandemic is not just around Madison and Milwaukee. It’s around Marinette, it’s around Rice Lake, around Southwest Wisconsin,” said Gov. Tony Evers. “And the more we can have partnerships like this, the easier it’s going to be to make sure that we serve the entire state of Wisconsin.”

Appointments are needed to get a vaccine and can be made online.
