From interns to alumni, Schreiber Foods earns Partner of the Year

Schreiber Foods, Recruitment Partner of the YearWith more than 100 current employees who either attended or graduated from UW-Green Bay, Schreiber Foods knows what it means to foster a school-community partnership.

It’s a relationship of dual benefit for the Green Bay-based employer and its local University, one that was celebrated formally Nov. 2 when UW-Green Bay’s Career Services named Schreiber its Recruitment Partner of the Year. The award annually recognizes a community member or organization for an exceptional commitment to Career Services’ mission of creating learning opportunities for UW-Green Bay students in their fields of study.

Often, those opportunities translate into employment for UW-Green Bay alumni, who say they, too, recognize the value of the campus-company relationship. The Recruitment Partner award acknowledges all the ways in which Schreiber has contributed, including through events such as job fairs, on-campus interviews, class and student organization presentations, department meetings with faculty and special events. Schreiber employees have had a significant presence on various UW-Green Bay boards throughout the years.

The Recruitment Partner award was bestowed during a Nov. 2 ceremony that was held in conjunction with a panel titled “Alumni Speak: Things I Wish I Knew Before Graduation.” UW-Green Bay accounting graduate Mike Powers, ‘00, financial analysis team leader at Schreiber Foods, spoke on the panel, offering advice and reinforcing the ties between campus and community. second-grade teacher, Green Bay Area Public Schools; and Jennifer Schanen, ‘08
, program outreach specialist, Wise Women Gathering Place.

Past recipients of the Recruitment Partner award include Integrys (2007), Schenck Business Solutions (2008), the Arthritis Foundation, NE Chapter (2009) and Glen Tilot with Brown County Human Services (2010).

“Community partnerships are key to our work in Career Services,” said Career Services Director Linda Peacock-Landrum. “In working with these organizations, we collectively provide learning experiences for students via numerous formats. Our students play vital roles as interns, and our graduates become solid, contributing employees who offer a direct benefit to these organizations.”
