UW-Green Bay jazz ensembles to perform Nov. 5

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay jazz ensembles will perform a variety of selections Friday, Nov. 5 in the University Theatre in Theatre Hall. The concert is at 7:30 p.m.

Jazz II Ensemble under the direction of UW-Green Bay Prof. Adam Gaines will kick off the program with “Route 66” written by Bobby Troupe, arranged by Michael Sweeney. Other selections include “The Girl From Ipanema” written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, arranged by John Berry; “Molly Meander” by Frank Mantooth; and “Milestones” written by Miles Davis, arranged by Peter Blair.

Following a brief intermission, Jazz I Ensemble, led by UW-Green Bay Prof. John Salerno, will perform five jazz pieces including “Sweet Georgia Brown” arranged by Sammy Nestico; “The Tunnel” by Bob Mintzer; “Get Out of Town” and “Easy to Love” by Cole Porter; and “Vita Bella” by Denis DiBlasio.

This is the eighth concert of the 2010-2011 season.
