UW-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery to present skateboard deck exhibition

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery will present the exhibition “Decked: Three Decades of Skateboard Decks,” guest-curated by Aaron Polansky of Sky High Skateboard shop in Milwaukee, Oct. 13-Nov. 3.

The show will be introduced with an opening reception and guest curator’s talk at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. Polansky will be joined by Jesse Geeboy, a lender to the exhibition, for a gallery talk at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The Lawton Gallery is located in Theatre Hall on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

The “Decked” exhibition is a mini-survey of more than 100 skate decks that traces the development of artwork on decks from the 1970s through 1990s. Videos and other items pertaining to skate culture will accompany the exhibition.

The Lawton Gallery is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday during the fall and spring semesters. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
