Aviation Training Experience offered for middle and high school students

Students entering grades 5 through 12 in fall can enroll now for the one-day program, Aviation Student Training Experience, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Outreach Summer Camps program and Space Education Initiatives.

This program will be offered 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the Tailwind Flight Center at Austin Straubel International Airport, Green Bay.

Participants will learn about the basic aerodynamic principles involved in how an aircraft flies, the training needed to become a pilot and career opportunities in aviation. Facility tours will include the Green Bay control tower and radar center*, corporate jet facilities, Tailwind Flight School, and the National Weather Service*.

Each participant will also have the opportunity to take a discovery flight in a training aircraft with a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor.

Fees are $110 per person, which includes instruction and lunch. Participants will need to report to the Executive Air Building, at the airport, 2131 Airport Drive, Green Bay.
