UW-Green Bay High School Music Camp registration gets under way

Students entering grades 9 through 12 in fall 2014 can enroll now for the High School Band, Orchestra and Choral Camp, Sunday-Friday, July 20-25, at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

Several camp options are offered for band, orchestra and choir students. All students will audition for placement on Sunday afternoon, July 20. Weekday classroom sessions start at 8:30 a.m. and run through 3:40 p.m. The camp ends with a 6 p.m. concert on Friday, July 25 at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus. Outstanding students will be chosen to receive partial scholarships to the 2015 camp.

Students will participate in full rehearsals, sectionals and a master class, and can tailor their camp experience by choosing from an array of classes. These include Camp Chorus; Music Tools; The Total Flutist; Hand Drumming; Saxophone Studio; Composition; Recording Technology; Heavy Metal (Brass Choir); Northwinds (Clarinet Ensemble); Instrumental Jazz Improvisation; Jazz Lab Band; Digital Sound Processing, Beginning Italian for Singers; History of Rock and Hip Hop; Beginning Class Piano; Pop Studio Strings; and Musical Theatre.

Camp teachers will include Music faculty members from UW-Green Bay and other colleges and universities, as well as outstanding music teachers from Wisconsin middle and high schools. See the camp website for faculty/staff updates: www.uwgb.edu/camps/music/highSchoolBand.

Students can attend as commuters or as residents living in UW-Green Bay student housing. The camp fee is $279 for commuters, which includes lunch. Resident students will pay $539, which includes room and board, counselor supervision, a t-shirt and transportation to evening activities.
