UW-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery to present faculty exhibition Feb. 6-27

The UW-Green Bay Lawton Gallery will present its next show, “Unnatural Selection: Faculty Exhibition,” Thursday, Feb. 6-Thursday, Feb. 27 at the gallery in Theatre Hall on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

The exhibition will kick off with an opening reception from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, including brief artists’ remarks presented at 5 p.m. This first Lawton show of the spring 2014 semester features six current UW-Green Bay Art faculty members presenting their works in a variety of media, including textiles, jewelry, metals, printmaking and sculpture. The artists will present brief talks about the works on display and encourage dialogue from the gallery’s visitors.

A synopsis of the show’s exhibitors and works is as follows:
Donald Krumpos and Johanna Winters, both temporary associate lecturers on campus, will show their individual printmaking works and exhibit a series on which they collaborated together.
Barbara Gossen, an associate lecturer, will show two metal work pieces that are Pitcher plants.
Alison Stehlik, an assistant professor, will exhibit “Hometown,” her 10-foot-wide installation consisting of a large series of interlocked houses in a variety of colors and shapes.
Alison Gates, an associate professor, will show three large and altered tapestries.
Jennifer Mokren, an associate professor, will be exhibiting jewelry works.

Located in Room 230 of Theatre Hall, the Lawton Gallery is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday during fall and spring semesters. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
