New Distance Education coordinator appointed

Nichole LaGrow has joined the Academic Affairs team at UW-Green Bay in a brand-new position as coordinator of Distance Education. Distance Education will play an increasingly larger role as the University seeks to increase access for students by extending curricular offerings to all four campuses, build partnerships with public high schools and technical colleges, develop programs to reach students throughout the 16-county region and recruit new students across the state, the nation and internationally. LaGrow’s appointment began Nov. 11, 2019.  She will report to Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, Clifton Ganyard.

LaGrow’s responsibilities include the development, implementation, management and promotion of the University’s distance education offerings. She will work with the academic Nichole La Growdeans, the campus executive officers and the registrar to ensure that distance education needs are met at each campus. In addition, she will encourage innovation in distance education programming to enhance accessibility and student success and to promote best practices in distance education. The position is a highly collaborative one that will work closely with a number of divisions and offices, including Enrollment Services, Information Technology, Student Success and Engagement, the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) and Institutional Strategy and Effectiveness.

LaGrow comes to UW-Green Bay from Ellucian, where she served as the executive director of Learning Design and Development. She has a wide variety of higher education experience and has served at numerous different institutions, including Rowan College at Burlington County, where she served as the dean of Liberal Arts, and Northampton County Community College, where she served as the director of the Learning Center. Her educational background includes a BA and a MA in English, a Ph.D. in Modern History and Literature, an MS in Adult Education, an MSM in Human Resources and an MBA.  LaGrow’s diverse education and experience will be beneficial as UW-Green Bay develops, expands and implements curricular programs in a variety of modalities.
