Check it out: Weidner Center shines as venue for Bortnick PBS special

We’ve got a sneak peek today of what promises to be a rockin’ PBS special featuring child music prodigy Ethan Bortnick — and of course our very own Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. As Log readers may remember, Bortnick took to the Weidner stage in July for an all-out, star-studded performance to benefit the Kress/Mattson Parkinson’s Fundraiser. The show was taped for a PBS special that will air (and be available on DVD) next month. The concert features Bortnick and fellow artists Jane Monheit and Damian McGinty, as well as the Wood Family Organ, local choirs and the Dubuque Symphony. UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance Prof. Jeffrey P. Entwistle designed and created the stage backdrops, and as Weidner Executive Director Kate Green notes, “there’s a lot of UW-Green Bay talent in the making of this, and it looks fantastic.” We second that emotion, and raise the ante by describing the Weidner as “spectacular.” Check out the preview.
