UW-Green Bay’s Shorewood is named ‘Course of the Year’

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s beautiful Shorewood Golf Course recently received  “Course of the Year” recognition from the Golf Course Owners of Wisconsin in the nine-hole category.

The award criteria recognized exceptional quality, contributions to the community and significant effort to grow the game of golf in Wisconsin. Assistant Director of Retail Sales and Director of Green Bay men’s and women’s golf, Lee Reinke, says course personnel’s focus on maximizing experiences sets Shorewood apart.

“We know how important it is in the industry to create an experience that produces a positive memory,” Reinke says. “We want that memory to create a desire to return. It has been our goal to overcome nine-hole course stereotypes, and winning this award has increased our credibility tremendously.”

The course hosted the WI Junior WPGA Future Tour Event #3 earlier this summer and was praised for its excellent staff and course condition as well.

Reinke says the collaboration between the course superintendent Nathan Rusch, food services manager Sharon Vanlieshout, and UW-Green Bay student employees, contribute to the success of the course success along with creative marketing efforts and wide array of programs and services for golfers of all demographics.
