“What One Sees” was selected by the Millers, from numerous student pieces submitted for consideration, to be featured on the Millers’ 2016 Holiday card. Her original work will be publicly displayed in the Chancellor’s Office, Suite 810 of the David A. Cofrin Library, UW-Green Bay. Fischer, a Sheboygan, Wis. native, is a junior and has a double major in Studio and Design Arts.

“I am beyond honored and thrilled that my artwork has been chosen to be featured on the UWGB holiday card,” said Fischer about the honor.  “I can’t believe my work will be shown to hundreds of people around the country.”

Fischer’s describes her exploration of contrast in her artist’s statement accompanying “What One Sees.”

“The theme in this piece is experimentation with brush stroke and value. Throughout this work, I evaluate the relationship between value, materials, and contrast, and their effect on composition. In juxtaposition to smooth tonal transitions, I emphasize the importance of utilizing contrast through and around areas to create harmony and visual interest.”
