UW-Green Bay outlines AODA policies, procedures

In response to recent media coverage about alcohol policies at UW-Madison, UW-Green Bay’s Counseling and Health Center and Dean of Students Office have issued the following summary of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) prevention and education efforts, as well as measures taken when policy violations occur:

UW-Green Bay Alcohol and Other Drug Programs and Services:

Education Programs (for policy violations):
Public Safety is called to all alcohol and drug incidents on campus.

The Dean of Students Office follows up with all students documented for alcohol and drug violations with. Students are assigned sanctions according to the violation.

AlcoholEDU – 3-hour online course ($100)

Insight – 6-hour group session ($100)

Alcohol and Other Drug Assessments (referred “as needed”). Assessments are provided by campus Substance Abuse Specialist through the Counseling and Health Center.

Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Program. A one-hour education program focused on assisting students in understanding the impact of BAC and associated risks. Class is offered for extra credit.

Prevention/Education Programs:

— Healthy Choices Task Force – Task force consists of staff, faculty and students in the development and implementation of campus-wide events and programs focused on helping students make healthy lifestyle choices. This committee partners with various UW-Green Bay campus departments in the delivery of these programs through the academic year.

— Residence Life requires all Resident Assistants to coordinate at least one drug or alcohol program for their communities.

Clinical: UW-Green Bay students and staff have access to specialized clinical alcohol and other drug services (which can include screenings, assessments and counseling) through the Counseling and Health Center.

Campus AODA Coordinator and Substance Abuse Specialist: Marlene Regan, MS, LPC, NCC, CMATS is the Alcohol and Other Drug Coordinator for the UW-Green Bay Campus and is one of 15 AODA Coordinators throughout the UW-System

Alcohol Advisory Committee: This committee consists of faculty and staff to annually review policy, programs, services, statistics, surveys and protocols with recommendations for revisions, changes and updates.
