New York transplant treats Green Bay as her home, and works to ensure its vitality
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Director of the David A. Cofrin Library, Paula Ganyard, received Leadership Green Bay’s highest honor — the 2017 Leo Frigo Award for Leadership.
Leadership Green Bay is a professional enrichment program of the Greater Green Bay Chamber which has been developing aspiring and current leaders since 1985. The recipient of the Leo Frigo Award is recognized as a significant contributor to the success of Leadership Green Bay and as an advocate and model of community leadership. Criteria for selection include ongoing service to the Leadership Green Bay program, consistent leadership to community groups and mentoring leaders within the program and the community.
“It is always an honor to be recognized for your work, and when it is recognition from your peers it is even more special,” Ganyard says. “To receive an award named in honor of a person that left a lasting impact on this community, is quite an extraordinary honor.”
A native of Western New York (near Buffalo), Ganyard started with UW-Green Bay in 1997, serving first as a library instruction and web resources librarian until 2002. She moved on to a position as university webmaster before accepting the library director position in June of 2009. Ganyard will gain additional responsibilities in July of 2017, as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Library Services. Her husband, Clif Ganyard, is UW-Green Bay’s Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
Ganyard’s involvement with Leadership Green Bay started with her graduation from the program in 2007. Since that time, she has served on and/or led various committees and projects within the organization. She went on to serve as Chair of the Steering Committee in 2012-2013 where she provided leadership in recrafting the group’s organizational structure and operating procedures that govern Leadership Green Bay to this day.
Ganyard was recognized formally at Leadership Green Bay’s annual “Legacy of Leadership” Banquet, Thursday, April 6, 2017.
