Business Week Reception

Weyenberg Prize recipients announced at Cofrin School of Business event

Business and community leaders from across Northeast Wisconsin joined UW-Green Bay students, faculty and leaders for Business Week 2018’s Awards and Scholarship dinner Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from the stage of the Weidner Center. The annual event is hosted by UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin School of Business.

Keynote speaker Laura Kohler, senior vice president of Human Resources, Stewardship and Sustainability for Kohler Co. shared her company’s philosophy for navigating today’s highly competitive talent environment. “We believe the combination of people, product and purpose are critical to a culture people want to be a part of,” Kohler said. “Adopt the concept of ‘lifelong learning’ so you can stay fresh and be inspired by the world as it changes,” she advised the audience. “The communities that we live and work in, the strength of our schools, the health  of our economies, and ultimately the character of our society will be shaped by you, your abilities, your passion and your drive.”

The Weyenberg Prize (in recognition of retired CEO and Executive Chair of the Board for Foth and former Executive-in-Residence at the Cofrin School of Business Tim Weyenberg) was awarded to two Green Bay-based organizations demonstrating business excellence, KI and Schneider. The awards each include a $2,500 scholarship to a UW-Green Bay business student. Junior Branden Vande Ven and sophomore Mara Pfeilstifter are the 2018 scholarship recipients.

“KI strives to give back to Green Bay, our home for over 70 years,” said KI CEO Dick Resch. “So it’s a privilege to have a scholarship awarded in our name to one of UW-Green Bay’s most promising business students.”

Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Talent Management, Todd Jadin ’84 (Business Administration) emotionally accepted the award on behalf of Schneider. “Bringing two organizations together that are near and dear to my heart means the world to me,” he said when accepting the award.
