Phoenix men close to clinching Horizon title after showdown win vs CSU

The Phoenix’s men’s basketball team ran its record to 21-5 overall and 11-2 in the Horizon League with a 68-54 defeat of second-place Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon in Ohio. With only three conference games remaining and a two-game lead in the standings, Green Bay likely needs only one more win (depending on the tie-breakers and how the final week plays out) to clinch the right to host the Horizon semifinals at the Resch Center. The home game at 7 p.m. this Thursday (Feb. 20) vs. Valparaiso could be the one to bring homecourt advantage for the tournament and inside track on the program’s first NCAA Tournament bid since 1996.
