Success for swimming and diving teams, men’s tennis

It was a winning weekend not only for the much-publicized Phoenix basketball teams, but also for the swimming and diving teams and men’s tennis program.

• The Green Bay men’s swimming and diving squad earned the Butler Invitational championship on Sunday, besting Xavier, Ball State and Evansville. Reigning Horizon League Swimmer of the Week Willem Poelmans of Hasselt, Belgium won three individual races.

• The Green Bay women’s team picked up a 136-99 victory over Northern Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Dorschel Natatorium to improve to a perfect 9-0 in duals and 18-0 against all competition in 2013-14.

• The Green Bay men’s tennis team improved to 2-0 on the young season on Saturday, rallying for a 4-3 road victory against DePaul in the Windy City. A key win came at No. 1 doubles with Howard Scott of Exeter, England, and Michael Tenzer of Neuried, Germany.
